Onyfix® is a versatile product composed of light cured medical grade composite material, which hardens when cured in a LED blue light. It’s applied to the wildest part of the toenail and cured, Onyfix® will maintain the shape and hold its position on the nail until it grows out. It won’t bend, snap or lift. It is this ability to hold it’s shape that make Onyfix® the perfect product to correct ingrowing, involuted and pincer nails, it will train the nail to grow back in the right shape and correct position. The band can also be applied to the corner of the nail where is pinching to provide instant relief from pain.
Onyfix® offers the alternative option for patients who may not be suitable for nail surgery or for any reasons don’t want one ( for example needle phobic). Onyfix® is suitable for children, high risk patients and diabetics.
Onyfix® may appear to work like a nail brace, however unlike a nail brace it will not cause pain from metal wires hooked into the skin. It also easier to apply with no glue or pressure required.
Before the Onyfix® treatment the toe needs to be free of infection. Then we will clean and tidy the nail and remove any loose nail debris to prevent any further discomfort. After that we will apply the Onyfix® band and cure it using LED blue light. The band will stay for the next couple of months and depending on the severity of the toenail more bands may be required over next months. Each band will support the previous band to reinforce the correction.
There is no specific home care required after Onyfix® treatment. There is also no restrictions on activities.
